The New Disney Princess Book Tag

I’ve been tagged for The New Disney Princess Book Tag by JessicaMarie493! It’s a bit exciting since this is the first time I’ve been genuinely tagged so thank you.

Snow White, This Book (like the Movie) Started It All
Favorite Debut Book From an Author
Commencement by J. Courtney Sullivan is a fantastic debut. It’s feminist fiction without beating you over the head with it. It talks about some very real issues faced my thousands of women without being preachy and humanizing the problems. Highly recommend for all college-aged women.

Cinderella, A Diamond in the Rough
Just Like Cinderella, You Either Didn’t Expect Much Out of This Character in the Beginning But they Turned Out to Be a Total Gem

Flycatcher/Ambrose from The Fables series by Bill Willingham. He’s a frog prince with a lingering bad habit who appears to be unremarkable but goes on to amaze everyone with the greatness he’s capable of. Anymore would be massive spoilers.

Aurora, Sleeping Beauty
A Book That Makes You Sleepy or Just Could Not Hold Your Attention
Why We Broke Up by Daniel Handler. I started it and quickly realized that much book dedicated to that short of a relationship would bore the crap out of my 30 year old mind.

Ariel, Under the Sea
A Book With a Water/Ocean Setting
Ocean Soul by Brian Skerry. Skerry is a famous photographer and this is one of his photo books. I haven’t read it cover to cover but I am incredibly happy to have it on my shelves.

Belle, Beauty and the Books
Name a Book With the Best Bookworm/Book Lover
The entire Thursday Next series by Jasper Fforde. Thursday literally goes into the world of books. I really need to reread it.

Jasmine, The Thief and the Princess
Name Book with an Unlikely Love Story (Either in Terms of Romance or a Book You Didn’t Expect to Love So Much)
The Trees by Ali Shaw. I loved the premise but once I realized it was literary fiction and the particular kind of awful Adrian was, I lowered my expectations considerably. It became one of my favorites.

Pocahontas, The Real Life Princess
Name a Book that is Based on a Real Life Person You Want to Read/Have Read
The Day of the Donald: Trump Trumps America by Andrew Shaffer. This fiction is only slightly dumber than our reality.

Mulan, The Princess that Saved Her Country
Name the Fiercest Heroine You Know
Probably Squirrel Girl. She defeated an eater of planets with the power of friendship.

Tiana, The Princess With The Coolest And Most Diverse Crew
Name a diverse book whether it is a diverse set of characters (like Tiana’s group of Naveen, Louis, Ray, and more) or just diverse in general
The Spells, Swords, and Stealth crew immediately spring to mind. A half-orc wizard, a gnarled gnome paladin, and pretty blonde barbarian.

Rapunzel, Let Your Longggggg Hair Down
Name the Longest Book You’ve Ever Read
I think that title still belongs to The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss in mass market paperback. It had 722 pages. I’m waiting for the third book to come out and then I’ll do the whole series in the same year.

Merida, I Determine My Own Fate
A Book Where There is No Love Story/Interest or Isn’t Needed
The Rook by Daniel O’Malley. Myfawny Thomas is trying to figure out who she is/was and stop a dastardly villain and/or plot (she’s not entirely sure) while helping run a secret government agency. She doesn’t have time for love.

Anna and Elsa

Anna/Elsa, Frozen Hearts
A Book in a Winter/Cold Setting
Out of the Ice by Ann Turner is on my summer TBR. A reporter is sent to a remote Antarctic island and uncovers a mystery she wasn’t expecting. Is it just me or does ‘remote Antarctic island’ sound redundant?

Moana, How Far I’ll Go
A Character That Goes on a Journey
I think it’s the PCT memoir I’m in the middle of but I keep thinking of Cheryl Strayed in Wild. It’s a journey of mind, body, and spirit and it’s been a couple of years since the initial Wild craze so I think I can talk about it again.

I tag: Cafe Book Bean, That Bookshelf Bitch, infinitebookreviews, and Read at Midnight
